Louise Wilson has over 17 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, having worked as a process engineer, process safety engineer and technical safety manager for BP and Shell before founding PSM Hub. She has been on every side of the HAZOP table — sitting in the team as a process engineer, commissioning and managing studies as a technical safety lead, and delivering them independently as a facilitator. She has over 400 days of HAZOP and LOPA facilitation experience across onshore and offshore facilities, in environments ranging from North Sea platforms to Middle Eastern oil fields, covering everything from greenfield FEED studies to operational revalidations and management of change.

Louise delivers HAZOP, LOPA and Process Risk Assessment training for the IChemE and teaches HAZOP at the University of Cambridge and Imperial College London. She holds a First Class MEng from Imperial College and is a Chartered Engineer, Professional Process Safety Engineer, Certified Functional Safety Expert and Fellow of the Safety and Reliability Society, where she currently serves as President. She is Process Safety Lead on the IChemE Learned Society Committee.

Outside of work, Louise founded Sewing4theNHS during COVID — organising over 400 volunteers across England and Wales to produce more than 3,000 sets of scrubs, masks and other items for NHS frontline staff. The operation ran for 7 months. It turns out the skills that make you good at managing complex process safety problems also make you good at mobilising people in a crisis.
